นายภูมิธรรม เวชยชัย รองนายกรัฐมนตรี รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงมหาดไทย รักษาราชการแทนนายกรัฐมนตรีได้โพสต์ข้อความ วันนี้ดาโตะ เซอรี อันวาร์ อิบราฮิม นายกรัฐมนตรีมาเลเซีย ได้โทรศัพท์หารือกับผมเกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์ชายแดนไทย-กัมพูชา โดยเฉพาะประเด็นการดำเนินงานของคณะผู้สังเกตการณ์ชั่วคราว (Interim Observer Team: IOT) โดยมีรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงกลาโหม และเลขาธิการนายกรัฐมนตรี เข้าร่วมด้วย
ผมได้ย้ำว่า ฝ่ายไทยยืนยันให้ IOT ดำเนินงานตามหลักการและกรอบการดำเนินงานที่ที่ประชุมคณะกรรมการชายแดนทั่วไป (General Border Committee: GBC) สมัยวิสามัญ ได้ตกลงกันไว้ เมื่อวันที่ ๗ สิงหาคม ๒๕๖๘ ซึ่ง IOT ก็เพิ่งได้เริ่มการดำเนินงาน โดยหากมีข้อเสนอแนะเกี่ยวกับการดำเนินงานของ IOT ก็สามารถนำเข้าสู่การพิจารณาของที่ประชุม GBC ครั้งต่อไปในเดือนหน้า เพื่อประเมินผลต่อไป
ทั้งนี้ ผมได้ขอบคุณนายกรัฐมนตรีอันวาร์ฯ ที่มีส่วนช่วยผลักดันสถานการณ์คลี่คลายไปในทางที่ดี และความพร้อมที่จะสนับสนุนท่าทีของไทยในการแสวงหาทางออกอย่างสันติและบนพื้นฐานของกรอบการหารือทวิภาคีไทย-กัมพูชาต่อไป
Today, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia held a telephone discussion with me regarding the Thai-Cambodian border situation, particularly on the operations of the Interim Observer Team (IOT). I was also joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Defence, and the Secretary-General to the Prime Minister.
I reaffirmed that Thailand wishes for the IOT, which has just commenced working, to carry out its work in accordance with the principles and framework agreed upon at the previous Extraordinary Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) on ๗ August ๒๐๒๕. I further proposed that the next GBC meeting scheduled to take place next month may review the operations of the IOT if necessary.
I also expressed my gratitude to Prime Minister Anwar for his role in helping the situation move toward a more positive direction, and for Malaysia’s readiness to support Thailand’s stance in seeking a peaceful resolution based on the Thai-Cambodian bilateral consultations.
